competition of - 'ud' arbi -

 
 

1. Presentation

The Center of Arab and Mediterranean Music organize a national competition of - 'ud' arbi - on the 27th and 28th of April 2018 at Ennejma Ezzahra Palace in Sidi Bou Saïd.
This competition is opened to all Tunisian musicians of different ages.
 

2. Conditions of participation

Participation folders must be sent via www.wetransfer.com on March 24, 2018 at least by using  the following e-mail: concours@cmam.tn
 
Only complete files will be examined.
The announcement of the pre-selection results is scheduled for April 7, 2018.

3. Constitution of the participation folder

The participation folder must contain :
a full CV of the participant (PDF) containing the address and the phone number
Digital copy of the National Identity Card
Digital copy (PDF) of legal parent agreement, with legalized signature, for all minor applicants.
Video recording mp4 (between 1 and 2 minutes) in which the candidate plays an improvisation in a tunisian mode (tba') of his choice. It is possible to use a smartphone for recording.
 

4. Participation Program

 
The program for each selected candidate for this competition is to play:
 
an istikhbâr (improvisation) in a Tunisian mode (tba')
a piece belongs to the Tunisian musical heritage (instrumental or vocal)
a piece of his choice among the proposals available on this link: http://www.cmam.tn/opendata-theme/en/23/
a piece of his own composition (if possible)
 
Notes:
the 'ûd' arbi must be tuned  by the traditional way
the candidate may be accompanied by a percussionist.
the recital should last between 12 and 15 minutes

5. Financial support

The Center of Arab and Mediterranean Music allow a financial support of 250 DT for each candidate selected for this competition as a cost recovery (transport, accommodation traditional dress, ...).

6. Prices

The Center of Arab and Mediterranean Music reserves for this competition three prizes :
 
1- First prize: 5000 DT
2- Second prize: 1500 DT and an 'ûd' arbi, excellent quality, produced by Ennejma Ezzahra.
3- Third prize: an 'ûd' arbi, excellent quality, produced by Ennejma Ezzahra.
